Phoenix, Arizona – For 17-year-old Heaven, the path to college hasn’t been easy — but it’s one she’s walked with determination, resilience, and a heart full of hope.
This fall, she’ll be starting her freshman year at Howard University, where she plans to major in psychology. The prestigious HBCU has long represented Black excellence to Heaven, and she’s eager to be part of a community that inspires her to grow and give back.
“I want to help people understand themselves and their potential,” Heaven shared. “Especially in communities like mine, where support and understanding can change lives.”
Raised in a low-income household by a hardworking single mother of five, Heaven has always understood the value of education. She stayed laser-focused throughout high school, determined to break generational cycles and become the first in her family to attend college out of state.
Despite her success, the financial burden of tuition and housing at Howard looms large. With her mom working tirelessly just to keep the family afloat, Heaven is turning to her community — and beyond — for support.
“This opportunity isn’t just for me,” she says. “It’s for my siblings and everyone who’s ever felt like college was out of reach.”
Heaven’s goal is to not only succeed, but to pave the way for others like her. With a degree in psychology, she hopes to return and serve her community, offering insight and support to those facing emotional and mental health challenges.
Every donation to Heavan’s GoFundMe Fundraiser, no matter how small, helps turn her dream into a reality — and ensures that her journey can inspire the next generation.
